台灣單車”環島”

單車旅遊的確是一個好玩法。台灣是一個特別適合單車旅遊的地方。以下是一些值得分享的經驗：

租單車，10天，約港幣五百元，包括絕部份的配設。這是筆者用過的單車店：奇旺單車

租用GPS 衛星導航十天港幣三百元有餘。最好每人一個，因為每人的速度不同，如果共用一個，等來等去，浪費體能。

如果有對講機，可以一路談話，一路上路，十分方便。

到當地買GSM電話咭，只需約港幣80元。

銀行3:30關門，不過，ATM十分方便，匯率比現鈔兌換更好。所以，用ATM提款是首選。信用咭付款也比現鈔匯率好。

台灣民宿多，一路上都比較容易投宿。不過，旺季就不知道了。入到鎮後，到餐廳休息吃東西，也可以打聽一下當地民宿的情況。一般都會有民宿的資料。

晚上上路也不失為一個好選擇。相信夏天更是首選。

如果行程未能完成的話，可到一些火車大站寄運單車，然後自行乘車，十分方便。有些站更加讓乘客帶單車上火車，不過，十分不方便，還是寄運單車吧。

如果下雨，做好防水，確保衣物電話等乾爽。

唔使查字典，都知道Henry Fan 被請離場的意思啦。哈哈哈哈

Swindle

embezzle
If someone embezzles money that their organization or company has placed in their care, they take it and use it illegally for the own purposes.

bilk
To bilk someone out of something, especially money, means to cheat them out of it.

fiddling
Fiddling is the practice of getting money dishonestly by altering financial documents.

如果你想話人唔使錢，起碼有五個字可以用。

stingy- If you describe someone as stingy, you are crticizing them for being unwilling to spend money

parsimony – Parsimony is extreme unwillingness to spend money. (disapproval)

scrimp – If you scrimp on things, you live cheaply and spend as little money as possible.

miser – If you say that someone is a miser, you disapprove of them because they seem to hate spending money, and to spend as little as possible

frugal – people who are frugal or who live frugal lives do not eat much or spend much money on themselves.

五個字裡，有三個是貶意，只有一個是讚同的，難道世界真是鼓勵人使錢？

越簡單的字，越多不同的用法。我本字典對於foot就有29個解釋。
第21個個解釋

If someone puts their foot in it or puts their foot in their mouth, they accidentally do or say something which embarrasses or offends people.

咁 Chuck Prince 講左咩野唔小心 “offended or embarrassed people” 呢？
相信是 “one must keep dancing until the music stops”

pillage

翻查字典，pillage 的意思是

If a group of people pillage a place, they steal property from it using violent methods. e.g. Soldiers went on a rampage, pillaging stores and shooting……

上一期 Economist 的 The oceans A sea of troubles 就有另一個用法，幾好。

Some of the worrying changes may not be entirely the work of man. But one that surely has no other cause is the dearth of fish in the sea: most of the big ones have now been hauled out, and the rest will be gone within decades if the pillage continues at current rates.

這個字通常用於戰爭，魚當作是海的私有財產，把海洋擬人化，其實都好平常，不過唔係佢咁用呢個字，都唔知個字可以咁用。當然唔及cough用於飛機引擎咁正啦。
